ULTRAMAN — DMT

ULTRAMAN DMT (Design–Make–Test). Year-3 build of the main frame and contact heater to deliver a rigid, shielded, filtered enclosure and to validate heater performance for downstream integration. I was the project manager and systems engineer for Group 8A, managing three teammates and working with three partner groups; our team acted as the integration group, implementing continuous design changes to accommodate and fit partner components.

Modular 40×40 aluminium extrusions for flexibility and reconfiguration
Acrylic shielding and sealed door; repurposed 5 mm panels from COVID screens
Fan array with carbon filtration for fume control
Contact heater reaching ~550 °C; 2 mm spacing between scratches/cycles
Uniform lubricant spray system
Pinhead cooling loop with water pump
Mid-test pinhead grinding and cleaning module
Budget controlled via reuse of the contact heater, control box, and acrylic panels
